Signe Zoller, President/Lead Winemaker
A pioneer in the wine industry, Signe Zoller has created a name for herself, not only because she is
a female winemaker in a predominantly male trade, but also because her innovation and drive have
established her as one of the notable winemakers in California. Sought after as a wine competition
judge and guest lecturer, Signe also finds time to contribute her community serving as past
president of the American Society for Enology and Viticulture, a past president of the Paso Robles
Vintners and Growers Association, and as a previous board member of the Santa Barbara County
Vintners Association and the Central Coast Winegrowers Association. Her extensive knowledge of
winemaking started at Kendall-Jackson winery in the 80's when it was only a six-man operation. From
there Signe moved on to lead the winemaking at Meridian Vineyard with founding winemaker Chuck
Ortman. Her wines have won numerous awards including Best of Show awards at the Long Beach Wine
competition, the Monterey Wine competition and two at the California State Fair.
Shannon Gustafson, Assistant Winemaker
Assistant Winemaker Shannon Gustafson became interested in winemaking at an early age. Her passion
for Enology in High School led her to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Production with
an emphasis in Winery Production and a double minor in Chemistry and French from Fresno State
University. In 2001 she completed an internship in Bordeaux, France at a winery named Chateau du
Grand Moueys and after graduation in 2003 went on to work throughout California's wine regions at
such wineries as Domaine Carneros, Robert Mondavi Careros, Testarossa, Gainey Vineyards, Talley
Vineyards, Tolosa Winery and at the Monterey Street Wine Company. Her extensive experience in all
aspects of the wine industry include lab analysis, retail sales, custom crush, blending and fining
wines, sparkling wine production, and barrel fermentation. She is a past member of the California
Enological Research Association and has donated time to teach English as a Second Language classes
and help out with Mano Tinto, a wine whose sale proceeds benefit the Fund for Vineyard and Farm
workers of San Luis Obispo County.
